In this monthly employee spotlight series, we will be showcasing our great colleagues from around the business to learn a bit more about them. Next up, we have the famous Izzy Hayes, who is our Inbound Sales Manager.

How long have you been with Hatch, and what does your role involve?

I’ve been with Hatch nearly 3 years now. My role is so varied I don’t even know how to describe it. I deal with any enquiries which come directly to Hatch, but my day-to-day responsibilities are more like a project manager. I see every project through from start to finish, from the first conversation to its completion when the client is happy. I work with clients all over the world too, which I love, as everyone has different requirements and style. There is never a dull day,

What’s your favourite thing about working for Hatch?

The people, 100%. Everyone I work with are genuine friends, Hatch is like a family – as cringey as it sounds. You actually wake up and want to go to work every day, especially with some of the conversations we have which go completely off course. It is just a great environment to work in, everyone is always laughing and happy.

What does a typical day look like for you?

That is really hard to answer! My role varies from day to day, as I can’t predict what enquiries will come in or what clients will contact us. Typically, may have a couple of client calls, send out proposals, book surveys, book installs, go through survey notes, but it does vary. Some days, it might take me half a day to do a big proposal, or I may spend my entire day arranging agent commissions, updating stock levels or sending lots of quotes. There is plenty to do!

What’s something that most people don’t know about you?

I have three kidneys. I don’t know why, or how, so I’m basically an alien.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I love going to the gym, love cooking as well. And you know what, I do love a bottomless brunch and going out with my girls – my social life is key for me. Oh, and travelling too! Just get me out of this country for some sun!

If you could switch your job with anyone else within Hatch whose job would you want?

I’d love to be one of the interior designers. I love the idea of designing concepts where I’m able to be as creative as possible, where you’re not stuck to one specific style. It just seems so much fun, especially as all the schemes are different.

If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?

Crisps, specifically Pringles. Oh, and money to travel!

What advice would you give to someone who wants to succeed in your role?

Just be confident in yourself and your ability. You’ve got to be able to have a conversation with anyone and know what you’re talking about. If you believe what you’re saying, the client will. Any hesitancy may come across that you’re not invested in their vision. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions, no one knows everything. I would much rather someone asks me 1000 questions and get something right, rather than them get it wrong – it’s how we learn. Oh, and just smile, have a laugh, don’t take life too seriously.
